Student Leadership Group
Our Student Leadership Group is a valuable opportunity for students to become members of one of our committees, which are headed up by our Head Boy and Head Girl. Becoming Head Boy and head Girl is a prestigious title at TSFA, and is a responsibility solely awarded to Year 13 students. Nominations are made early in the academic year and the respective nominees are then allocated a slot in our Hustings assembly, where they pitch their leadership pledges to the rest of the student body. The students then vote for their chosen leaders, and the winning pair are announced shortly afterwards. The committees fall under their leadership remits, are open to all students across both year groups and are dedicated to specific areas of importance which currently are: Transition, Culture, Charity and Sport. Leading a committee enables students to positively contribute to not only the running of 6th Form, but to the outreach work for the wider community. A big part of our TSFA culture is our Civic Virtues, which require us to give something back to society. Leading the committees also enables students to demonstrate key skills required in the wider world of education and employment, as well as being an impressive addition to a student’s Personal Statement or CV.

There are two central opportunities for all students to carry out work experience, although we encourage students to actively seek their own around their academic timetables throughout the year. The two central opportunities that we promote are during the October half term holiday, where students have a two – week holiday from the academy, and also during Work Experience Week in June of Y12. As a condition of graduation, all students must have completed at least one period of work experience by the time they have finished Year 12.
