The Better Living Team

The Better Living Team is a friendly group of knowledgeable and experienced nutrition and physical activity trainers who can provide you with advice on how to become fitter and healthier. We will provide specific support for you based on what your health goals are. The service is free if you live in Calderdale and support will be given for up to 12 months.

Active Calderdale

Getting active is a great way to beat stress! Active Calderdale offer full programmes of activity including swimming, dance and keep fit. Make use of their great facilities and programmes designed to suit all ages and all abilities. #ACTIVECDALE is a new physical activity movement to help Calderdale become the most active borough in the north of England by 2021.

Samaritans offer a safe space for people to talk any time they like in their own way about whatever’s getting to them. You don’t have to be suicidal.

Integrated Sexual Health Service

We provide fully integrated sexual health service based at Broad Street Plaza in Halifax, with satellite clinics in Todmorden and Brighouse. This provides a ‘one stop shop’ for testing and treatment for genital infections, all methods of contraception and HIV care. Click here for clinic locations.

Calderdale Staying Safe

Young People’s Domestic Abuse Support is open to young people aged 16 and above who are affected by domestic abuse.

Calderdale Staying Safe – WomenCentre Drop in Sessions

If you are affected by any aspect of Domestic Abuse the Staying Safe team can help. They provide drop-in sessions offering domestic abuse support, safety advice and access to legal advice.

Every Wednesday 10am – 12noon

Please note, the WomenCentre is a female only space. Men can call the Staying Safe team on 01422 323339 to make an appointment with a male victim support worker.

Fixers

With Fixers, young people of Calderdale made a film to highlight the illegal practice of forced marriage.

Branching Out – Humankind

Branching Out work with children and young people who are using alcohol, drugs, solvents or tobacco at any level, or those who may be at risk of using substances. It’s a free confidential service for children and young people aged between 10 – 21 years. Branching Out also work with parents, carers and siblings who may be concerned about their child’s substance use.
