Careers Programme

Aspirations at Trinity Sixth Form Academy

The purpose of our careers programme is to make sure that students leave us prepared for the next step on their journey, whether that be to higher education or employment. We aim to raise aspirations and promote social mobility, ensuring that all students have access to the best opportunities.

We aim to provide excellent quality, neutral information and guidance to all of our students to allow us to provide them with the best possible foundations to start their future. We aim to offer specialised advice concerning a number of pathways available to students after SixthForm including university, apprenticeships, and employment etc.

The programme provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to be ‘life ready learners’ and achieve in the wider world. We are actively working to meet all eight of the Gatsby Benchmarks (see below) by the end 2020, with many of the benchmarks already being achieved.

  1. A stable career programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of all pupils
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experience of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

Overview of Aspirations provision

The careers programme, embedded into the curriculum, is delivered during Personal Development (PD) sessions, with students attending two of these sessions per week.

Over the two years, students have many opportunities to engage with employers and employees via school trips, the Aspirations Fair, subject specific learning and work experience.

Impartial information and guidance about future options covers university, apprenticeships, employment and traineeships. Students also have access to representatives from C&K careers twice a week.

Opportunities that come through are shared with students on a weekly basis via the newsletter. This is also sent to parents and includes links to useful websites and information on how to support your child.

Labour market information is delivered via PD sessions and is also updated on the website regularly.
