Courses and Entry Requirements

We offer a comprehensive range of A-level and Vocational courses. Our entry requirements are 5 or more GCSEs (or equivalent) graded at 4 or above, including English Language and Maths.

Subject Guidance Entry Grades
Applied Science Achieved a grade 4 in all Sciences
Art and Design (Art, Craft & Design) No additional entry requirements – if a student is applying for a course in a subject they have studied at GCSE it is expected that they would have achieved at least a standard pass (grade 4) in that subject (can only study up to 2x Art & Design qualifications)
Art and Design (3D Design) No additional entry requirements – if a student is applying for a course in a subject they have studied at GCSE it is expected that they would have achieved at least a standard pass (grade 4) in that subject (can only study up to 2x Art & Design qualifications)
Art and Design (Photography) No additional entry requirements – if a student is applying for a course in a subject they have studied at GCSE it is expected that they would have achieved at least a standard pass (grade 4) in that subject (can only study up to 2x Art & Design qualifications)
Biology, Chemistry, Physics Achieved a grade 6-6 or higher in combined GCSE Science or grade 6 or higher for the single GCSE Science selected at A Level.   Achieved Grade 5 or higher in Maths to study Biology or Chemistry.  Physics students also have to select A-level Maths and achieve Grade 6 or higher in their GCSE Maths.  All three subjects require Grade 4 or higher in GCSE English Language
Business – A-level No additional entry requirements – if a student is applying for a course in a subject that they have studied at GCSE it is expected that they would have achieved at least a standard pass (grade 4) in that subject
Business – BTEC No additional entry requirements
Classics Achieved grade 5 or above in either Classical Civilisation, History or English
Computer Science Achieved grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics or a grade 5 in Computer Science with a 4 in Mathematics
Criminology No additional requirements
Economics Achieved grade 6 (or higher) in Mathematics and grade 5 (or higher) in English Language or English Literature
English Language Achieved a grade 5 in English Language
English Literature Achieved a grade 5 in English Literature
EPQ Year 13 Option only
French Achieved a grade 5 in French
Geography No additional entry requirements – if a student is applying for a course in a subject they have studied at GCSE it is expected that they would have achieved at least a standard pass (grade 4) in that subject
Geology Achieved a grade 5-5 or higher in combined
GCSE science or grade 6 or higher in GCSE Geography
Health and Social Care (Extended Certificate) No additional entry requirements
History Achieved a grade 5 in either English
ICT No additional entry requirements
Law Achieved a grade 5 in either English
Mathematics Achieved a grade 6 in Mathematics
Mathematics (Further) Achieved a grade 7 in Mathematics
Mathematics (Core) Year 13 option only
Media No additional entry requirements
Physical Education A-Level Achieved a grade 5-4 or above in Combined Science or Grade 5 or above in 2 out of the 3 single GCSE Sciences and essential that you take part in some form of competitive sport/physical activity on a regular basis
Polish Achieved grade 5 (or higher) in English Language.  You will need to speak, read and write in Polish at GCSE level
Politics Achieved a grade 5 in either English
Psychology Achieved a grade 5 in either English
Religious Education Achieved a grade 5 in either English
Sociology Achieved a grade 5 in either English
Spanish Achieved a grade 5 in Spanish
Sport – BTEC It is desirable that students have played sport for a community club
